The committee praised this work as a beautifully produced edition featuring carefully selected illustrations and highlighting the importance of an understudied figure whose original devotional texts bear witness to her erudition and importance as an original thinker in Early Modern Spain.  Besides appreciating the carefully crafted translation, the committee praised the introduction and notes. The committee noted that the translator’s postscript added a personal touch to a carefully crafted volume that will enrich its utility in the classroom, offering a variety of ways of increasing access to the text for students.
